The Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Chattanooga has received the Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for new construction.

The hotel, which is owned and operated by the Chattanooga-based Vision Hospital Group, is the first Chattanooga hotel to get the environmental honor.

The hotel features natural lighting, heat wheel energy recovery equipment, rainwater collection systems and low-flow faucets to reduce water use in the property's sinks.

"We have always sought to be leaders and innovators in the hotel industry and place sustainability and community stewardship at the head of each project," Vision CEO Mitch Patel said.
