Berke will serve as vice president of business transformation at CBL, one of the largest landowners and developers in Chattanooga, where the shopping center development firm is based. In her new job, Berke will be responsible for overseeing project teams and implementation of CBL's business and technology initiatives.

Berke previously served as vice president of investment operations for the Unum Group in Chattanoooga after heading Berke Coaching and Consulting for eight years and previously working as chief operating officer for The Ochs Center for Metropolitan Studies.

"We are pleased to welcome Monique to the CBL team," Mike Harrison, the company's senior vice president for strategic and technology initiatives, said in a statement Monday. "Her unique background managing teams and implementing strategic programs across multiple disciplines will provide significant value to CBL as we continually look for new ways to improve our business and processes."

Berke, who earned both her undergraduate degree and her MBA at Stanford University, also has been active in the nonprofit arena as a board member for the Lyndhurst Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga and Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga. She is a past chairwoman of the Creative Discovery Museum and Children's Advocacy Center of Hamilton County.

The Chattanooga-based CBL owns, holds interests in or manages 148 properties, including both of Chattanooga's shopping malls -- Hamilton Place in East Brainerd and Northgate Mall in Hixson.
