VW sales show 24 percent jump in November

Volkswagen of America today reported that sales rose 24.2 percent in November over a year ago as the automaker's numbers begin comparisons to the start of diesel emissions scandal in late 2015.

Sales of the Chattanooga-made Passat climbed 133.5 percent in November when the automaker sold 6,441 of the sedans versus just 2,759 in the same month last year, the company said.

The Tiguan sport utility vehicle posted sales of 4,516 units, up 15.6 percent from a year ago, VW reported.

Total VW sales in the U.S. last month were 29,672 compared to 23,882 last year.

For the year through November, VW sales are down 10.2 percent from 2015 to 285,719 units, the company said.
