Business Briefs: Nissin Brake hiring 40 for Rock Spring plant

Nissin Brake hiring 40 for Rock Spring plant

The Georgia Department of Labor will help Nissin Brake recruit about 40 full-time assembly workers to work in Rock Spring, Ga.

The recruitment will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Fort Oglethorpe City Hall located at 500 City Hall Drive. Department staff will be onsite to help screen applicants.

Salaries will begin at $10.10 an hour and benefits include dental, health and vision insurance along with six paid holidays and five paid vacation days a year.

Due to U.S Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, all applicants must be at least 18 years old. While it is not required, a high school diploma or a General Education Diploma (GED), is preferred. The company offers training availabilities for applicants chosen for the positions.

Athens gets facade grant

Athens, Tenn., has received $100,000 in a commercial facade improvement grant for its downtown.

The grant is part of $750,000 awarded to a number of cities by Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd for downtowns.

The funds are used to improve commercial buildings in downtown districts that have active revitalization programs in place through the Tennessee Main Street and Tennessee Downtowns programs.

Grants can be used for improvements including new awnings and signs, painting, windows and doors, brick repair and other upgrades.
