Local jobless trend split in area counties

In the Chattanooga region, unemployment was up in nine counties, down in nine counties and unchanged in another county during August.

Tennessee

* Bradley, 4.7 percent, unchanged from the previous month

* Coffee, 4.9 percent, up 0.1 percent from previous month

* Hamilton, 5 percent, up 0.1 percent from previous month

* Franklin, 5.7 percent, up 0.2 percent from previous month

* McMinn, 5.8 percent, up 0.3 percent from previous month

* Polk, 5.8 percent, up 0.1 percent from previous month

* Van Buren, 5.8 percent, down 0.5 percent from previous month

* Sequatchie, 6.1 percent, up 0.2 percent from previous month

* Bledsoe, 6.6 percent, down 0.2 percent from previous month

* Grundy, 6.6 percent, down 0.2 percent from previous month

* Marion, 6.7 percent, up 0.3 percent from previous month

* Meigs, 7.1 percent, up 0.2 percent from previous month

* Rhea, 7.6 percent, up 0.1 percent from previous month

Georgia

* Catoosa, 4.8 percent, down 0.2 percent from previous month

* Dade, 5.1 percent, down 0.5 percent from previous month

* Chattooga, 6 percent, down 1.2 percent from previous month

* Murray, 6.6 percent, down 0.4 percent from previous month

* Whitfield, 5.7 percent, down 0.3 percent from previous month
