Signal Mountain Self Storage, which was located in the former Mountain Creek elementary school at Mountain Creek and W roads, is being torn down to make way for construction of a 600-unit self storage facility on the same site.
The new 19,580-square-foot facility will triple the number of storage units compared with the old facility.
Downtown Chattanooga, and the nearby area, are seeing so much new housing that residents needing more room to keep their stuff are helping spur a surge in self-storage units, experts say.
