The Tennessee Valley Authority, the largest employer in the Chattanooga area, maintains three of its top employment sites in Southeast Tennessee. TVA employment has dropped from its 1981 peak of more than 52,000 employees to under 12,200 employees today. But the federal utility still has more than 4,800 employees in Southeast Tennessee.
