Heart Association salutes local firms

The American Heart Association has recognized another four Chattanooga companies for promoting physical activity and health in the workplace, giving the local employers the group's Fit Friendly awards. So far, nine local companies have earned the Fit Friendly recognition in Chattanooga.

As part of their award, U.S. Xpress, Roper Corp., SkyRidge Medical Center and EMJ Corp. will have the right to use the Fit Friendly logo and seal in their employee recruitment activities.

"Employee wellness programs are important in today's business environment," said Tom Edd Wilson, CEO of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce and the 2011 Chairman of the Heart Walk campaign. "Companies now regard these programs as recruitment and retention tools as well as ways to make a difference in the lives of those living in our community."

Gyms, health programs, publicized walking paths, healthy food options and clinics are among many the items considered by the Heart Association for the Fit Friendly designation.

Riggs recognized in Circle of Success

Jody B. Riggs, a financial adviser with Ameriprise Financial Services, qualified for and attended the 2011 Circle of Success conference recently held in Montreal, Canada. To earn this achievement, Riggs established herself as one of the company's top producers. Her office is at 1206 Pointe Centre Drive on Signal Mountain.

Landguth named chapter president

Mike Landguth, president of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority, has been named president of the Southeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives.

Landguth takes the reins after serving in various leadership positions over the past 10 years.

"Airports serve as key drivers of economic growth in their communities, and it is critical that we maintain healthy airports as our nation seeks an economic recovery," said Landguth.

AAAE is one of two major trade organizations for airports, serving as a resource in training, networking and representing airport interests to elected officials. The Southeast chapter is the largest single chapter in AAAE.

Trumpeter listed as civil mediator

William Trumpeter, a member of the Chattanooga law firm of Miller & Martin, has been listed as a general civil mediator in Tennessee.

Trumpeter concentrates his practice on traditional labor law, equal employment opportunity litigation, and FLSA matters before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts. In his 35 years of practice, Trumpeter has handled hundreds of labor arbitrations covering all types of issues.

He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 1993, and also has been recognized in Super Attorneys for the Mid-South in the area of labor and employment. Trumpeter is licensed to practice in Tennessee, Georgia and Ohio.

Cracker Barrel appoints Blevins

Chris Blevins, formerly general manager of the Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores Inc. in Calhoun, Ga., has been transferred to a comparable job at the Cracker Barrel store in Ooltewah. A 15-year veteran in the restaurant industry, Blevins is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Ooltewah restaurant, which is located at I-75 and Old Lee Highway.
