Under Construction: Parkside Brownstone homes come to M.L. King

photo The energy-efficient homes at Parkside Brownstone, priced at $235,000, are 1,750 square feet with three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Project: Parkside Brownstone homes.

Owner: Bobby Joe Adamson, Adamson Developers LLC.

Location: 700 block of M.L. King Boulevard, between Magnolia and Wall streets.

Architect: Adamson Developers.

Size: Each of the planned 10 homes has 1,750 square feet.

Contractor: Adamson Developers.

Price/rent per unit: $235,000 for sale; $1,700 a month for lease.

Project cost: Around $1.6 million.

Scope: The "green" energy-efficient homes are within walking distance of downtown and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus. All feature three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. Kitchens have granite countertops. Downstairs flooring is hardwood, except for a guest bedroom. Upstairs bedrooms are carpeted.

History: Parkside Brownstone is located on the former site of row houses that were torn down around a decade ago. Today, Parkside Brownstone is near other new and renovated housing adjacent to Whiteside Park.

Future: The first two homes in the development are up. Adamson said the remaining homes will be built as they are sold "unless we get a real hunch." He said it can take up to four months to build one of the homes, but construction can be completed in under 90 days if there's an expedited build.
