Per capita income in the Southeast remained below the U.S. annual average of $40,584 in 2010.

  1. Florida, $39,272, up 35 percent from 2000 to 2010

  2. North Carolina, $35,638, up 28 percent from 2000 to 2010

  3. Georgia, $35,490, up 24 percent from 2000 to 2010

  4. Tennessee, $35,307, up 32 percent from 2000 to 2010

  5. Alabama, $33,945, up 41 percent from 2000 to 2010
