A world of fun begins May 2 at the Catoosa County Library

As part of its celebration of National Children's Book Week, the Catoosa County Public Library is hosting several events during the next few weeks.

Clifford the Big Red Dog, star of the popular PBS Kids program of the same name, will visit Monday, May 2, according to Karol Radovich, the library's children's services coordinator.

"Children are invited to join Clifford for stories, songs and fun," Radovich said. "Parents should be sure to bring their cameras."

Clifford's visit is being sponsored by the Georgia Public Library Service and will take place beginning at 10:45 a.m. in the children's department.

The next evening a string quintet composed of Chattanooga Symphony & Opera musicians will perform in the library rotunda beginning at 6:30 p.m., Radovich said.

"We were lucky to have them with us during the Festival of Trees, year before last," she said of the symphony's annual appearance at the library. "People still comment about how much they enjoyed that program."

The five musicians will perform May 3 as part of the symphony's educational outreach and is being offered at no cost to the library or its patrons.

The following week, beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, Rich Davis, author of eight published children's books and an online interactive drawing game, will be at the library.

The visiting artist will conduct this mini-workshop, drawing for the children as well as leading them to create their own pictures, ones that open their minds to the importance of stories in diverse cultures.
