A reception for "Symbiosis," a show by Dan and Mary Defoor with Ansley Sproull, is scheduled 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Harris Arts Center, 212 S. Wall St. in Calhoun, Ga.
The Defoors work collaboratively. They explain that Dan's skill as a potter builds the foundation for their pieces with his wheel-thrown forms. He then turns over the "blank canvas" to Mary for sculptural alterations, surface decoration and glaze design. Sproull creates dramatic three-dimensional portraits, made notable by her confident line work, detailed paper cutting, deft color choices and strong compositions.
The show continues through Friday, July 22.
Regular hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays.
