The current exhibit of art by Wayne White and work in the Hunter Museum of American Art's permanent collection are the inspirations for two events at the museum, 10 Bluff View, this weekend.

A night of cocktail art is planned today, Aug. 17, during "Cocktails in Color: Thrill After Thrill" at Hunter from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Guests will enjoy the art of Wayne White with gallery experiences, music by Matt Downer and, of course, a cocktail curated by Flying Squirrel mixologists. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.

An event ticket includes one specialty cocktail, MoonPie treats and one free beer or wine ticket. There will also be a full cash bar available for purchase of additional drinks.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online for $20 general public, $15 members. Tickets will be sold online until 5 p.m. today, after that they may be purchased at the door.

At the beginning of August, the Association for Visual Arts opened "Examinations: AVA Artists Reflect on the Hunter Museum Collection." Fifteen of AVA's emerging artists were asked to choose their favorite work in Hunter's permanent collection, consider how it spoke to them and then create a piece inspired by the art.

On Saturday, Aug. 19, artists who participated in "Examinations" will guide visitors through the museum to discuss their favorite works.

"Examinations Tour: Seeing the Hunter Collection Through Artists' Eyes" will begin at 2 p.m. During this tour, guests will have the opportunity to hear more in-depth explanations from the artists. The tour is included in museum admission of $15 ages 18 and older.

"Examinations: is on view at AVA, 30 Frazier Ave., and continues through Aug. 25.
