Unitarian Universalist Church examines climate change in 'Extreme Whether'

The Social Justice Committee of Unitarian Universalist Church of Chattanooga and Tennessee Interfaith Power & Light will present "An Evening of Elegance and Relevance," including gourmet cakes, fine cheeses, champagne and punch, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at the church, 3224 Navajo Drive.

The centerpiece of the evening will be a reading of "Extreme Whether" about early climatologists and their quest for belief in scientific research.

Praised as "provocative and brave" by The New York Times, the play was presented during the 2015 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which resulted in the Paris Agreement for nations to reduce carbon emissions.

The play is suggested for mature audiences.

Admission is a $10 suggested donation.

Proceeds benefit Theatre Three Collaborative USA and Citizens Climate Lobby.
