A free "Evening With the Artist" will showcase the talents and techniques of award-winning portrait artist Seth Haverkamp on Friday, Jan. 13, at Townsend Atelier, 301 E. 11th St.
A 2016 International Portrait Competition finalist, Haverkamp is known for commissioned portraits, but his chief subjects are his wife and children.
Among other honors, he earned Best in Show in the 2008 Portrait Society of America's international portrait competition for a portrait of his daughter Echo and a People's Choice Award in the 2013 competition for a painting of his daughter Essie.
Haverkamp's demo and talk is set for 6 to 7:30 p.m. (Registration for a separate two-day workshop with Haverkamp this weekend is full.)
