This weekend's opening of "Rumors" at the Tennessee Valley Theatre in Spring City, Tenn., will be somewhat of a trip down memory lane for Bernie Belisle.

"Rumors" was the first production presented in the theater's location on West Jackson Avenue in 1996. That show was directed by Belisle, who also played Glenn Cooper. When the new production opens Friday, June 16, at TVT, Belisle will again direct, but he will play the character of Ernie Cusack.

Neil Simon's farce centers around four couples attending a 10th anniversary party for Charlie Brock, mayor of New York, and his wife, Myra.

Ken and Chris Gorman arrive first, only to find Charlie has shot himself - through the ear. Myra is missing and there is no kitchen staff to be found in the house.

Ken and Chris must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusion and miscommunication mounts, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

Caleb Julin and Stefani Green play Ken and Chris Gorman in the TVT production.

Nicholas Wilbanks and Annette Dufty are cast as Lenny and Claire Ganz, who have been in a car accident on their way to the party.

Bernie Belisle and Mary Pendergrass are Ernie Cusack, a psychologist, and his eccentric wife, Cookie.

The fourth couple, Glenn and Cassie Cooper, who argue constantly, are played by Jamie McIntosh and Kaitlyn Couch.

Alex Dufty and Bailey Hufstetler round out the cast as police officers Welch and Pudney, respectively.
