A day full of visual and performance art is scheduled Friday, Dec. 1, at the Creative Arts Guild, 520 W. Waugh St. in Dalton, Ga.

The day begins with the Guild's Mistletoe Market from noon until 7 p.m. This festive outdoor market will feature local and regional artists selling a variety of seasonal gift items.

At 5:30 p.m., the Guild will host a gallery reception highlighting the work of current exhibitors Paula Plott Gregg and Alexa Lett. The free reception will include light refreshments and holiday beverages.

Gregg's exhibit of paintings, "How Great Thou Art," features "loose landscapes, animals and whimsical characters" from her imagination. She says the images "appeal to the innate, pastoral desire in all of us to return home."

Lett's exhibit of needle craft, "Handmade Imperfections," displays how her work is not constrained by "structured corners, tucked threads and predictable outcomes" but instead "lets the wonky fabric and color lead the creative path."

The day culminates with a concert at 7:30 p.m. by the L'Abri String Ensemble in Jonas Hall.

"Carols & Hymns by Candlelight" will be led by Guild music instructor Jim Burdick. The ensemble is December's featured group from the In Concert Series: A Collection of Roots Music.

Mistletoe Market visitors may stay or return for the reception and concert.
