The Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers will perform at Lee University on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in Conn Center on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus.

The singers are an ensemble of core vocalists from within the internationally known Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir of Brooklyn, N.Y. The singers travel for international and domestic performances, directed by Carol Cymbala.

The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir was founded in the 1970s with just nine people. Since then, the choir has grown to be an integral part of worship services at the Tabernacle, as well as for the New York community. The choir has performed at Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden Theater. It sang at the 2012 presidential inauguration.

The choir has recorded numerous albums, won five Dove Awards and six Grammy Awards.

Lee alumnus Bradley Knight serves as a music director at Brooklyn Tabernacle.

"I want to see people drawn to Jesus Christ," Cymbala says. "I want the music to be the arrow that points them to him."

This event is free and nonticketed. Doors open at 6 p.m., and seating is first-come, first-served.
