Chattanooga is one of only 12 cities on the Chris Tomlin Christmas: Christmas Songs of Worship tour, which plays the Tivoli Theatre Thursday night, Dec. 13.

In announcing his tour, Tomlin said these concerts will offer fans an up-close and personal experience as an intimate 'evening with' show, different from his large-scale arena tours.

"This is going to be an incredible night of remembering what the season is all about, remembering what Christmas is about, remembering why we celebrate and why we worship, and remembering our Savior together," Tomlin said in a news release.

"Bring your friends and family as we sing new and old Christmas songs and reflect on the birth of our savior."

From his rural Texas roots, cutting his chops on his father's country-western record collection, to the small Baptist church where he started singing, to his current position as a worship leader for the worldwide church, Tomlin says he has always been motivated to provide a voice to talk with God through music.

"Even as a kid, when I played at church, I loved the sound of people singing," he says. "I had no clue I would become a worship leader. I just loved to play music that people could sing with, and I loved it when people would sing to God."

Tomlin has sold more than 8 million albums, 11.3 million digital tracks with 16 No 1 singles. He is one of only four artists to receive the Sound Exchange Digital Radio Award for over 1 billion digital radio streams, joining Justin Timberlake, Pitbull and Garth Brooks.

In addition to winning a Grammy, Tomlin has won an American Music Award, three Billboard Music Awards, 21 Dove Awards and a BMI Songwriter of the Year Award.

Last spring, the singer marked another career milestone by launching his own imprint record label, Bowyer & Bow, in partnership with Capitol Christian Music Group.
