Friends of Cloudland Canyon is presenting a concert by Stephen Seifert, internationally known mountain dulcimer soloist, on Friday, Oct. 4, at Cloudland Canyon State Park.

Not only is the musician an exceptional dulcimer player, he is an engaging entertainer who keeps his audiences laughing between toe-tapping numbers.

The concert will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Group Shelter at Cloudland Canyon State Park, 122 Cloudland Canyon Park Road in Rising Fawn, Georgia.

Seifert has been a featured performer at hundreds of dulcimer festivals and other music events from Kentucky Music Week in Bardstown to the Tono American Music Festival in Tono, Japan.

He has been a dulcimer soloist with Orchestra Nashville since 1996, and is featured on its recording of Connie Ellisor and David Schnaufer's "Blackberry Winter," a concerto for mountain dulcimer and string orchestra. The dulcimer musician recently performed this piece with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Montpellier Chamber Orchestra.

Seifert was an adjunct instructor of mountain dulcimer with David Schnaufer at Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music from 1997 to 2001.

He also taught, performed and recorded with Schnaufer as a duo throughout the country. He has written 10 books, recorded four CDs and 16 instructional videos.

Friends of Cloudland Canyon suggests concertgoers might want to arrive early and take advantage of the hiking, biking, fishing, disc golf, picnicking and Interpretive Center programs before the show.

Admission to the concert is $15 adults, $12 children under 12. There is a $5 per vehicle parking fee for guests without a park annual pass. All proceeds from the concert will support Cloudland Canyon State Park.

Tickets are available at friendsofcloudlandcanyon.org or at the door.
