Genealogy workshop Saturday - Feb. 22

DID YOU KNOW?Chattanooga Delta Genealogy Society is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 to foster cooperation and provide instruction among those interested in preserving family history. Members focus on the Tennessee counties of Bledsoe, Bradley, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Rhea and Sequatchie; Georgia counties of Catoosa, Dade, Walker and Whitfield; and Alabama counties of DeKalb, Madison and Jackson.

Chattanooga Delta Genealogy Society will present its annual workshop Saturday, Feb. 22, at Ooltewah United Methodist Church, 6131 Relocation Way.

Three speakers are scheduled for four topics.

¦ Linda Woodward Geiger, president of theFriends of the National Archives, Southeast Region: "I Swear Allegiance -- Naturalization Records 1790-1950" and "More Than Land Descriptions: Treasures Among the Deeds."

¦ Linda Mines, Hamilton County historian, "Early 19th Century Tennessee -- The War of 1812 and Beyond."

¦ Deborah Leining of the Family History Center of Ooltewah, "Tracing Your Family History Using the Family History Center and FamilySearch."

The workshop will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. There will be a break for lunch on your own. Several restaurants are nearby, some within walking distance, according to organizers.
