Half Ironman returns with 70.3 mile competition

Ashley Clifford won last year's Sunbelt Bakery Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga race with a time of 4:20:33. The competition returns Sunday, May 22, with a 1.2-mile, mostly downstream swim in the Tennessee River, a 56-mile bike ride that includes a 34-mile loop through Georgia and a 13.1-mile run through downtown Chattanooga and North Georgia.

Weekend events also include an Ironkids Chattanooga Fun Run, with distances of one mile and a half mile for children ages 3-15, at 6 p.m. Friday, May 20.
