This 1.5-mile fun run for "triathletes to be" gives kids ages 3-15 a chance to run the same course as Ironman Chattanooga competitors.

The event starts with warm-ups at 5:45 p.m., followed by the run at 6 p.m. at Ross's Landing, 200 Riverfront Parkway.

The goal is to help stem the rising tide of childhood obesity through exercise and healthy lifestyles.

Registration is $15, and every child receives a T-shirt, race bib, goodie bag and finisher medal.

Registration details are available at www.ironkids.com.

The Ironman Chattanooga competition follows Sunday, Sept. 25, with a 2.4-mile swim in the Tennessee River, a 116-mile bike ride that dips into North Georgia and a 26.2-mile run.
