In the spirit of goodwill toward men, Harvest Outreach Ministries is offering a free Christmas dinner to the homeless and other people in need on Saturday, Dec. 23, from noon to 5 p.m. The dinner will be served in American Legion Post 112 at 1118 N. Glenwood Ave. in Dalton, Ga.

Sheila Reed of Harvest Outreach Ministries says the nonprofit has served in North Georgia for 31 years.

"We will be prepared for a large crowd, 500 and better," she says. "Harvest Outreach orchestrates and pays for most all food served and caters according to all health codes."

"We started feeding hot meals to the homeless and secured a kitchen, which was set up like a restaurant," says Craig Tyndall. "As time moved along, we began enlarging our work to an open community kitchen, letting anyone come and eat. In this, we found so many that were going hungry in and around our doorsteps that we could not ignore this great need. So Harvest Outreach was born."

In addition to Saturday's hot meal, guests will be treated to gospel music and Christmas music. Scheduled to sing are Debby Faye East, Shelia Reed, Calvary's Blend, Tyndall and others.
