In-store activities, demos and discounts geared specifically for women are on tap Saturday, Sept. 23, at Cabela's in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., with the aim of helping women enjoy the great outdoors just as much as their husbands or significant others.
Ladies' Day Out will offer free, hands-on activities hosted by local experts to help women learn how to shoot a bow, go hunting, back up a trailer, cast a fishing line, fillet a fish and more. There will also be demonstrations and classes focused on personal protection, firearm use and gun safety.
"We all know women love the outdoors just as much as men," says Philip Sparn, marketing manager at Cabela's in Fort Oglethorpe. "We just want to help them feel more comfortable getting outdoors, teach them a few tips and help them find the gear and the resources they need to enjoy their next adventure."
Beginning at 9 a.m., Cabela's will host an archery shoot in its state-of-the-art archery range. Women can come from 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. and be custom-fitted for a bow or crossbow, then receive one-on-one instruction on how to shoot a variety of bows in the range.
Cabela's outfitters will host fish filleting and cooking demos at 11 a.m., trailer-backing demos at noon and fishing/casting tutorials at 2 p.m.
The Well Armed Woman group will lead "Refuse to be a Victim" at 1 p.m., a workshop focused on personal protection and self-defense.
Cabela's pro-staffer and hunting expert, Debbie Le Gette, will also be on hand providing demos and answering questions about hunting to help women gear up and get ready for hunting season.
Cabela's will offer its employee discount to all customers who participate. Every participant will receive a "VIP Badge" to present at checkout for employee pricing on all in-store purchases made during Ladies' Day Out.
