Bass Pro Shop and Cabela's have dropped a line about their upcoming Spring Fishing Classic - the largest free fishing event of its kind in the country.

From Friday, Feb. 15, through Sunday, March 3, the two outdoor sports stores will host opportunities for novice and experienced anglers to hear from the pros, load up on the latest fishing gear and win prizes. Both stores will offer a women's fishing workshop and kids' weekend to build excitement for the coming season.

Bass Pro Shop in East Ridge will be the site for Bassmaster University seminars on Feb. 20 and Feb. 23

Chris Lane, 2012 Bassmaster Classic Champion and seven-time Bassmaster winner, will be the featured guest on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Tim Horton, MLF Bass Pro Tour Angler, four-time Bassmaster Elite Series winner and host of "Timmy Horton Outdoors" television show, will be featured on Saturday, Feb. 23, from noon to 4 p.m.

Spring Fishing Classic Events at Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop

» Trade-In Savings: Customers who donate used rods and reels (in working order) during Spring Fishing Classic will receive trade-in savings of up to $200 on the purchase of a new rod and reel. The used fishing equipment will be donated to local nonprofit organizations.

» Club Card Rewards: Bass Pro Shop and Cabela's Club card customers can earn up to $100 in Club points and earn $25 in points for every $250 spent on new gear throughout the Spring Fishing Classic.

» Women's Fishing Workshop: This class on Saturday, March 2, at 1:30 p.m. will provide basic fishing information and tips on how fishing can be fun.

» Kids' Weekend: Free activities focused on teaching kids the basics of fishing are available from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3. Activities include casting challenges, a fishing workshop, a craft to make and a photo download.

» Trip Giveaway: Visitors can enter to win a fishing trip with professional angler Casey Ashley. The winner will receive a one-day fishing trip to Table Rock Lake in Missouri, travel expenses and hotel accommodations - total retail value of $5,000.
