First Day Hike: Beyond the Canyons

Get your new year off on the right foot by joining at 10 a.m. for a ranger-guided hike through a lesser-known area of Cloudland Canyon State Park. Explore the Can't Hardly Trail and CCT corridor while working toward one of your resolutions on this 4-mile loop trip. Be sure to bring water and a sack lunch, and wear sturdy shoes. Meet at the Visitor Center/Park Office. Just in case you miss it - or need more motivation - there are plenty of other opportunities scheduled throughout the month.

Chattanooga ModelCon

Maybe you resolved to find a new hobby. Maybe you want to rekindle some childhood wonder. Or maybe you're just plain curious. From armor to autos, science fiction to ships, hundreds of museum-quality scale models will be on display at the Chattanooga Convention Center, and you can talk shop with the more than 100 vendors. The best time for the public to check out the models is noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Wine and Relaxation

Now that the holidays are over, take some "you" time by grabbing your girlfriends and heading to the Georgia Winery for this Ladies' Night Out event featuring chair massages, a DJ, appetizers and, of course, wine. While you're dancing the night away from 6-9 p.m., you might even win one of the door prizes. $20 entry fee.

Chocolatefest Knoxville

Did you know the Knoxville Expo Center turns into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory each year? We didn't either. Drop by to sample chocolate from regional specialists while also being treated to live entertainment and kiddie fun. Just don't take the boat ride.
