The 2011-12 theater season at Lee University opens Thursday with a Pulitzer Prize winner for drama, Margaret Edson's "Wit."
Edson used her work experience in a hospital as part of her inspiration for her lead character's diagnosis with late-stage ovarian cancer.
The play, directed by assistant professor of theater Dan Buck, will be presented at 7:30 nightly through Sept. 26, except for a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sept. 25. Performances will take place in the Edna Minor Conn Theatre (Vest 305) on the Cleveland, Tenn., campus.
The season also will include two performances by the touring children's theater company ShoWagon of Theatre Memphis, Moliere's comic masterwork "Tartuffe," the one-act drama "Eleemosynary" about three generations of women, and the classic English comedy "See How They Run."
