Mast-Head Productions will present an adaptation of Mary Shelley's Gothic horror masterpiece over the next two weekends at UTC.

Shelley's groundbreaking novel, "Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus," was published anonymously in 1818. In "Frankenstein: The Postmodern Prometheus," writer/director Charles Duesler, artistic director of Mast-Head, sheds new light on the creature produced by an unorthodox scientific treatment.

Duesler's "Postmodern" version explores what would happen if Victor Frankenstein worked in the age of the iPhone, Internet, stem cells and artificial intelligence. The play, he said, "confronts issues of life, death, humanity and God in the face of an indifferent universe."

In featured roles are Greg Glover as The Creature and Dana Rogers as Victor Frankenstein. Others in the cast are Jared Madewell, Jessica Page, Randall Pennington, Rebecca Clark, Randy Forester, Daniel Derrickson and Nathaniel Garth. Original music is by Amanda Cagle.

The production is recommended for ages 13 and older.
