Lee competition presents nine outstanding pianists

Nine high school pianists from across the United States are competing for cash and scholarship prizes in Lee University's seventh annual International Piano Festival and Competition today and Saturday.

The final phase of the competition, today and Saturday, concludes the weeklong piano festival of concerts and professional instruction. Of the festival's 21 participants, nine students will showcase their skills in the competitive format.

The competition officially opens at 9:30 a.m. today. When the round concludes, finalists will be selected for the Saturday morning phase of the competition. These finalists will perform an entirely fresh program for the judges, and a winner will be named at 11:30 a.m. The nine competitors are vying for a grand prize of $3,000 cash.
