'An Evening With Lorrie Morgan' in Calhoun - Aug. 2

The Grand Ole Opry gets her first this week, but then the country singer known for such hits as "Five Minutes" and "What Part of No" will head south for "An Evening With Lorrie Morgan" on Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Gem Theatre in Calhoun, Ga.

Morgan has sold more than 6 million records and has a trophy room adorned with reminders of her gold and platinum successes, including 14 Top 10 hits and four Female Vocalist of the Year awards.

Her vocal style, combining country sincerity and pop sophistication, took off in 1989 with the emotion-filled hit "Dear Me." She won a Country Music Association Award in 1990 for her work with her late husband, Keith Whitley, the country traditionalist who had died the year before. Her three subsequent albums - "Leave the Light On," "Something in Red" and "Watch Me" - all sold more than a million copies.

Other hit singles include "I Guess You Had To Be There," "Except for Monday," "Something in Red," "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" and "Half Enough."
