High on the Hog festival in Winchester

The Franklin County Kiwanis will again host the High on the Hog Festival this weekend in Winchester, Tenn.

Bush Hawg, a Knoxville-based band of hard-playing, hard-charging musicians, will headline the two-day event.

Created in 1999, the festival has raised funds that are used to improve the community and help local programs such as Click It or Ticket, which provides car seats for those who cannot afford them. More than $4,000 in scholarships for Franklin County students have been awarded over the years.

The barbecue contest is a Kansas City Barbeque sanctioned event with certified judges choosing the winners. Teams will be competing for more than $12,000 in cash and trophies.
