America was changed forever on Sept. 11, 2001. Ten years later, residents of the Tennessee Valley will remember those who died in the terrorist attacks and honor the military and emergency personnel who serve as everyday heroes. Zoo discount

What: Free admission to active members of the military, local law enforcement and emergency first responders for Grandparents & Local Heroes Day.

When: 10 a.m-3 p.m. Saturday (zoo open 9 a.m-5 p.m.).

Film screening

What: Documentary, "9/11: Explosive Evidence: Experts Speak Out," voicing concerns by 1,000-member Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth about the destruction of World Trade Center buildings 1, 2 and 7. Discussion follows with UTC faculty.

When: 1 p.m. Saturday.

Freedom Walk

What: To honor service members and veterans, renew our commitment to freedom and the values of our country and reflect on the events of Sept. 11.

What: March from Miller Plaza to the riverfront.

What: Free concert marks 50th anniversary of church in addition to 9/11 anniversary.

9/11 Candlelight Vigil

What: Event to remember those lost and to honor those who serve.

When: 8 p.m. Sunday.

Where: University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; participants will gather in the lobby of Founders Hall, then proceed to the Quadrangle.
