9/11 remembrances

America was changed forever on Sept. 11, 2001. Ten years later, residents of the Tennessee Valley will remember those who died in the terrorist attacks and honor the military and emergency personnel who serve as everyday heroes. Zoo discount

What: Free admission to active members of the military, local law enforcement and emergency first responders for Grandparents & Local Heroes Day.

Film screening

What: Documentary, "9/11: Explosive Evidence: Experts Speak Out," voicing concerns by 1,000-member Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth about the destruction of World Trade Center buildings 1, 2 and 7. Discussion follows with UTC faculty.

When: 1 p.m. Saturday.

What: Free admission to all police officers, military and emergency response personnel and their families; good for up to two adults and two children.

Freedom Walk

What: To honor service members and veterans, renew our commitment to freedom and the values of our country and reflect on the events of Sept. 11.

When: 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Sunday; ceremony at 1 p.m. followed by walk.

A Day of Remembrance and Recognition

What: Remembering the victims of the terrorist attacks in 2001 and honoring local public safety workers.

What: March from Miller Plaza to the riverfront.

When: 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Where: 1:30 p.m. procession of emergency vehicles begins; 2 p.m. Memorial March begins; 3 p.m. 9/11 ceremony begins.

Jericho Brass Concert

What: Free concert marks 50th anniversary of church in addition to 9/11 anniversary.

What: Honoring all emergency services personnel in Catoosa County

What: Event to remember those lost and to honor those who serve.
