Closed Door Entertainment's junior group, CDEKids, invites the public to their upcoming performance of Disney's "The Lion King JR."
Premiering Friday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m., the show features 25 junior actors from the group's 70-member CDEKids troupe. The show will be the first performance for the child actors in the Phoenix Theatre on Ringgold Road, which opened late last year.
"It's been out for a couple of years now," CDE Executive Director JC Smith said of the musical, "and of course Disney always sells well.
"We're just trying to jump-start the theater community in East Ridge."
Subsequent show dates are Feb. 18, 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m., with additional matinee shows at 2 p.m. on the two Saturdays.
"Bring the whole family and come out to support the arts.... Everyone involved is a volunteer, from costumes to sets, and it's all done by local artists," Smith said. "... There's nothing like seeing a live performance to get a passion and inspiration for the arts. It's something you definitely can't get in front of the TV screen."
Tickets are available for $14, and for an additional charge, patrons can select their seats.
