Fischer Evans Jewelers is hosting a party featuring internationally renowned jewelry designer Pratima Sethi Thursday, Oct. 19. From 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy mimosas, hors d'oeuvres and explore Sethi Couture's culture-rich designs.

Based in San Francisco, Pratima and her sister Prerna have built the brand and showcased its eclectic, artisanal, contemporary style. Jewelry was always part of their lives, even as children. Having been raised by parents who were purveyors of fine diamonds, Pratima said they learned early the value of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Recent travels to visit grandparents in Central India have influenced their most recent designs - ones that will be showcased at Fischer Evans.

"We grew up around incredible women who celebrated jewelry in their everyday lifestyle. But we were captivated by the deeper heritage side of jewelry, the timeless pieces that told a story with an elegant nod to the past," Pratima said. "Nonetheless, the path for us was unexpected."

Pratima studied business and Prerna majored in architecture before the sisters began designing their first collections. A juxtaposition of contemporary and classic, Sethi Couture embodies an aesthetic of simplicity and celebration.

"[We design] everyday jewelry that is meant to be collected and enjoyed, not tucked away in a box," said Pratima.

The trip to Chattanooga will be a first for the Sethi Couture collection.

"Chattanooga is a growing city that represents great Southern spirit," Pratima said when explaining why Sethi Couture selected the Scenic City for a visit. "Fischer Evans is a wonderful family-owned business that is iconic to the area. At Sethi, we share the same values of hospitality, customer service, and we offer something unique to our customers."

The event at Fischer Evans will be a time for customers and community members to meet Pratima, explore the collection and learn about the pieces, which she says "tell a story of the past, the present and the future." Customers are encouraged to bring their own bands and rings so Pratima can mix, match and stack them into a timeless design.
