unlap’s Cookie Jar Cafe is ringing in the new year with new hours. Beginning in January the restaurant is planning to resume its Sunday hours, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST.
In 2016 owner Sue Ann Lockhart had decided to close the restaurant on Sundays in order to spend more time with her family. But now, with more help and continuing customer demand for Sunday hours, she is bringing them back.
“Reservations are not required, but they are recommended,” said Sue Ann.
Another thing back by popular demand? Cookie Jar’s homemade red velvet cake, offered only through Valentine’s Day.
Throughout January and February, chocolate is a big focus — in regards to its desserts, at least, Sue Ann said. While the restaurant’s scratch-made cakes, pies and tortes sell well year-round, this time of year Sue Ann said she notices her diners prefer lighter entrees: grilled tilapia, catfish or salmon, for example.
Moreover, she added, “All of our sides are vegetarian-friendly.”
And the restaurant’s healthy options offer the perfect compromise for that post-meal sweet reward: German chocolate, double chocolate or red velvet cake, among dozens of other options. Indeed, there are now more days out of the week for you to indulge in all Cookie Jar has to offer.
