Specializing in fast, fresh and affordable Asian cuisine, best-selling dishes at Soho Hibachi include its chicken hibachi and chicken teriyaki — each served with sauteed broccoli, onion, mushrooms and zucchini and diner’s choice of white rice, fried rice, brown rice or noodles.
Those chicken hibachi and teriyaki dishes have been favorites since the first Soho opened in 2013. And its first customers developed a taste for more than just those piping-hot plates piled high with food, which were featured as part of the restaurant’s grand-opening special offering either dish plus two-for-one harumaki. Those initial diners also developed a taste for the restaurant itself.
Five years later, Soho now boasts two locations: one in Fort Oglethorpe and one in Hixson. In the years since the opening of the restaurant’s first location, the two stores have received more than a half dozen of this newspaper’s annual Best of the Best readers’ choice awards, including “Best Japanese Restaurant,” in addition to garnering a myriad of stellar online reviews.
On the travel review website TripAdvisor.com, Fort Oglethorpe’s Soho is ranked the second most popular among the town’s 52 restaurants, while Hixson’s Soho ranks at No. 18 out of 98.
And Soho’s menu includes much more than hibachi and teriyaki. For an even more authentic Asian experience, there is its noodle and rice menu, featuring recipes such as cha chiang mein, special noodle soup, and udon soup; and, for an appetizer, Soho offers gyoza, which are traditional-style Japanese pork and veggie dumplings.
Still, there is something to be said for steadfast favorites — for instance, Soho itself.
