ith its fire-red roof set against the spring-green mountains, Riverside Catfish House stands out on a skinny stretch of scenic highway that bends alongside the Tennessee River. It is an inviting scene, matched by Riverside’s warm and homey interior — which is quite large. There are multiple dining areas that can easily accommodate dozens of guests; yet, there is still something charmingly homey about it.

The servers are laid-back. The view is stunning. The fried fingerlings are crisp on the outside, buttery on the inside. What more could a person ask for?

How about a complimentary side of live entertainment?

Every Thursday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. EST, Riverside hosts karaoke.

“It’s very kid friendly,” said server Taylor Atchley. “You don’t see too many family-friendly karaoke nights, but we have just as many kids as adults that get up and sing.”

Moreover, every Thursday Riverside is offering diners who mention this story a complimentary basket of jalapeno poppers or fried pickles.

Indeed, there are a number of ways in which Riverside stands out; not least among them is the restaurant’s selection of made-from-scratch desserts. And for a limited time, Riverside’s famous strawberry pie is back. Creamy, soft and sweet, its pink cream cheese icing deliciously contrasts against the white marble tabletops.
