Riverbend season is approaching in Chattanooga, and we all know what that means: pandemonium in downtown Chattanooga. Traffic is a mess; parking is essentially non-existent; and, worst of all, restaurants are packed.

So where can a person grab a hassle-free, local bite during the weeklong event?

Appearing like an oasis near Hamilton Place mall, Acropolis Mediterranean Grill has been serving the Scenic City for more than 20 years. Family owned, family operated and family family, the restaurant specializes in home-style comfort foods blending Greek and American flavors. Staples include the pot roast and lamb lollipops, though the menu also features rotating specials throughout the year.

“I like to put specials out there that are representative of what we do,” said Nick Kyriakidis, who co-owns the restaurant with his family.

This Father’s Day weekend, Acropolis is offering two new specials. First, there is the barbecue Scottish salmon, featuring bourbon-barbecue salmon served over roasted vegetable couscous. Second, there is the Black Angus sirloin oscar, made with a certified cut of USDA prime steak served over roasted red potatoes and topped with blue crab, asparagus and bearnaise sauce.

Why not give dad the gift of a headache-free meal this mid-June? Complete with a full bar and on-site bakery, Acropolis is an ideal excuse to get out of downtown this season.
