Fiery CompetitionDiamond Billiard Club hosts dart tournaments every Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8 p.m.On March 31, it will host the Chattanooga Open Dart Tournament, an all-day competition.

In pitting the best college athletes against one another, March Madness brings serious competition. But forget basketball. There is one epic battle in which all players win: The battle between Diamond Billiard Club’s “Groovin’ Cuban” and “Pulled Pig Butt” sandwiches.

Both heavy-hitting sandwiches are made with pork that’s slow-smoked in-house. The Pulled Pig Butt is topped with creamy scoop of slaw and served with fries. Meanwhile, the Cuban is smothered in house-made mojo sauce — equal parts sweet and spicy.

“[The mojo sauce] is a little bit citrusy, a little bit garlicky — but that’s all I’m going to say,” said General Manager Jesse Howard. “We don’t want to give too much away.”

Either sandwich, Jesse continued, pairs perfectly with Devil’s Armpit IPA from local craft brewery Heaven & Ale, currently on tap.

“We always have at least one local tap, between Heaven & Ale and Oddstory,” Jesse said.

Basically, with Diamond’s menu, full bar, and pool and dart tables, a trip to the billiard club is win-win-win for everybody. That’s just the kind of sportsmanship you can expect from the popular Hixson hangout spot.
