Don’t let its name, or the castle of pizza boxes built between its dining area and kitchen, fool you: Home Slice Pizza serves a lot more than pies.

“We are a pizza place — always have been and always will be,” said General Manager Josiah Johnson. “But we do tons of sandwiches and wings, too.”

Among the selection on the restaurant’s popular sandwich menu, showcasing five subs and sandwiches, the best-sellers are the meatball, Buffalo chicken Philly and hot Italian — in that order.

“Though sales are pretty neck and neck,” Josiah said.

The meatball is made with three 3-ounce, all-beef meatballs, smothered in marinara. The Buffalo chicken Philly is stacked with grilled chicken tossed in Buffalo sauce, bell peppers, banana peppers, mushrooms and mozzarella. And the meaty hot Italian is with sliced salami, pepperoni, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato and tangy house-made dressing.

The sandwiches are all served on freshly toasted 8-inch hoagie buns and offered for $7 each. And now, they are also all featured in the restaurant’s $10 deal, offering sandwich, curly fries and drink. That special is available to customers who choose to dine in, carry out or use Home Slice’s record-setting delivery service — spanning a whopping 15-mile radius, for a $3 flat delivery fee.

Or, steadfast pizza-lovers can also now take advantage of the restaurant’s $20 meal deal, offering a large, two-topping pie plus a pound of wings.

“We do about eight to nine wings per pound, a mix of drums and flats,” said Josiah.

Moreover, wings are served covered in one of the restaurant’s eight sauce and dry rub options, Josiah said, the most popular being the garlic Buffalo sauce.

Yes, Home Slice may be king of the pizza castle — but, thankfully, the staff built it large enough to accommodate an ever-growing menu. Stay tuned for the introduction of pasta.
