Highest value building projects started in 2016

The value of new construction begun in Chattanooga last year rose by more than 26 percent to top $253.7 million, according to building permits issued by the city in 2016. The city issued permits for 676 new buildings last year, compared with 510 the previous year. The highest value building permits issued in Chattanooga last year were:

1. New apartment complex at 1400 Chestnut Street by Holder Nevins in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. and built by TDK Construction in Murfreesboro, $24 million.

2. FedEx ground distribution facility at 7949 Apison Pike in Ooltewah built by EMJ Corp., $20 million.

3. Integra Vistas multi-family complex at 208 Integra Vistas Drive in Hixson near Highway 153 and Boy Scout Road by Landsouth Construction in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, $18.1 million.

4. Ashford Square Retirement Community at 7683 Shallowford Road by Ashwood Square Retirement in Lincoln, Nebraska, and built by Cameron General Contractors in Lincoln, $15.5 million.

5. Gestamp plant core and shell at 8001 Volkswagen Drive, built by Weland-Davco Corp. from Lansing, Michigan, $12.2 million.

6. Johnson Development Self Storage at 5056 New Country Drive in Hixson, built by TRC Construction Services from Brentwood, Tennessee, $5 million.

7. Mai Bell apartments by Highland Park LLC at 1728 Bailey Avenue, $4.1 million.

8. Lyerly Street Medical Office at 281 N Lyerly Street, owned by Todd Phillips and built by GenTech Construction, $3.94 million for building shell.

9. Riverfront condominiums at 574 Molly Lane and 553 Riverfront Parkway developed by MC Holdings LLC and built by High Construction LLC, $3.9 million.

10. Tag Manufacturing plant expansion, 200,000 square feet at 7080 Discovery Drive, $3 million.
