'Show 36' In-Town Gallery kicks off the holiday season with new work by 36 artists

October 23rd, 2011 by Staff Report in Life Entertainment

A lavish reception on Nov. 4 will debut all new work by In-Town Gallery's 36 artists.

Chattanooga's oldest cooperative gallery is celebrating 37 successful years and has a faithful following of art collectors who never miss these semi-annual introductions of new work, said artist member Helen Burton.

All items in the show are original, and 15 of the artists are painters who work in styles and mediums that run the gamut from traditional still life to abstraction, and oil to pen-and-ink.

Jane Yelliott has been a member of the gallery for 27 years and creates imaginative porcelain tiles, in addition to pastel portraits and watercolors.

Jewelry by four artists will be seen, as well as glass constructions by Mary Beth McClure, Carolyn Insler and Tara Van Meter. The mediums of pottery, metal, wood and fiber will be represented in the show, along with photography and hand-pulled etchings.

"Show 36" goes on view Tuesday, Nov. 1, and continues through Nov. 30. The reception will be held Friday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.

In-Town Gallery, 26 Frazier Ave., is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Sunday. Call 267-9214 for more information.
