In a recent Rolling Stone listicle ranking the 100 greatest drummers of all-time, Chattanooga native Clyde Stubblefield cracked the top 10, ranking at No. 6 all-time along with fellow drummer John 'Jabo' Starks.
The two talented drummers anchored the percussion section of James Brown's band back in his 'Cold Sweat' days. The two partnered on what are known as some of Brown's greatest songs, such as 'Superbad' and 'Funky Drummer.'
The Roots drummer Questlove told the Rolling Stone that "Starks was the Beatles to Clyde's Stones. A clean shuffle drummer to Clyde's free-jazz left hand."
