EDITOR'S NOTE: Barry Courter has a 26-year-old son who is a college graduate and a 22-year-old daughter who is a college senior. Each week he poses a question he wishes they would ask.
Q: Some of my friends are already unhappy in their new careers. How does a person prevent choosing the wrong job?
A: There is no surefire way that I know because so many things can impact your happiness. A bad boss or co-worker can take the fun out of it. Not understanding ahead of time what the job will entail every day can lead to disappointment. Asking lots of questions of a lot of people ahead of time is probably the safest way to get it right.
