Living and Giving: Everyday Heroes raises $260,000 to fight Lou Gehrig's Disease

* What: The sixth annual Everyday Heroes Gala was held recently at The Chattanoogan. The gala was founded in memory of Calder Willingham, who died at age 69 shortly after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

* Benefits: The event raised more than $260,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and is earmarked for ALS research. Two donations totaling $85,250 were made in honor of Nelson Bower's 40th year in the car business.
