When the glue traps used to catch flies are stored over exposed food products, the health inspector is never pleased.

Combine that with improper storage of soiled linens, in-use utensils being stored in standing water and no hot water provided at the hand-washing sink, and you get a failing score.

That's what happened to Thai Esan on 4330 Ringgold Road, which received a 66 on its restaurant report card.

Red Ginger on Dayton Boulevard also received a low score - a 70 - which is one point away from failing. The inspector reported that employees were using cardboard as a shelf liner, and found rodent droppings on shelves in dry storage and a grease build-up on the floor. The restaurant's score was later corrected to an 89.

At Church's Chicken on Brainerd Road, which scored a 76, the health inspector found an open drink on the table in the storage cooler, and noted ice scoops being stored at the floor mop sink.

The bowling alley Pin Strikes also received a low score, with a 78, for utensils being stored with buildup on them, no paper towels at the hand sink and incorrect date marking. However, Pin Strikes' score was corrected to a 100.

On the other hand, Six restaurants received perfect scores.

Bar Louie at Hamilton Place, Jason's Deli on Gunbarrel Road, Papa John's, Subway and Spare Time on Brainerd Road, and the Arby's at Northgate Mall all received perfect 100s on their restaurant report card.
