-What: The Chambliss Center for Children recently celebrated its 145th anniversary with a reception at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club, sponsored by board member Mark Hite. The event also marked the successful conclusion of a capital campaign and Phil Acord's 45 years of service with the center.

-Benefits: Chambliss Center for Children is a nonprofit that cares for children 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The mission of the agency is to preserve families and help prevent the dependency, neglect, abuse and delinquency of children by responding to community child-care needs. The agency provides affordable, accessible and quality care for over 650 children every day. In addition to the residential program and early childhood education programs at the center, Chambliss Center manages five off-site child-care centers.
