Hamilton County: Fire destroys Harrison home

Emergency officials called a Harrison home a "total loss" after an afternoon house fire this weekend.

About 3 p.m. on Saturday, the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire at 7518 Short Tail Springs Road, according to Hamilton County Emergency Services spokeswoman Amy Maxwell.

Firefighters conducted a "defensive attack" to control the fire from spreading to dry terrain and adjacent buildings, but the fire "fully involved" the home, she said.

Steve Ross, the homeowner, was out at the time, Maxwell said. There were no injuries reported.

Total damages are undetermined at this time, and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office will investigate the fire's cause.

Tri Community Volunteer Fire Department also assisted with the fire, Maxwell said.
