2:00 DRILL: A return, an injury and a shot at state

James' return

We are six hours from LeBron James' return to Cleveland (8 p.m., TNT) with his new team - the Miami Heat.

It's fair to say the 2:00 Drill has never been this excited about the introduction of the players and the pregame festivities at a sports event.

Will he throw the powder in the air? How deafening will the boos be? Does he smile? Does he excel?

The questions are as numerous as the possibilities, and that's what is really cool. How many sporting events have this much drama and this many outcomes?

Cleveland point guard Mo Williams said James' return was like "your ex-girlfriend coming to your wedding."

Stay tuned.

Barron out for bowl

Alabama safety Mark Barron will miss the Crimson Tide's bowl game after having surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle.

Coach Nick Saban said Barron hurt his right pectoral against Auburn trying to break up a second-quarter touchdown catch by Emory Blake. Barron told reporters it hindered him later on a 70-yard TD pass to Terrell Zachery. Barron had a team-leading 75 tackles and recorded three interceptions.

Red time

Baylor has a talented senior class and tonight it gets a shot at a state title.

Led by Mr. Football winner Jacob Huesman and Duke-commit David Helton, the Red Raiders will face Ensworth (8 p.m., WTCI) in the Division II-AA state championship.
